This week, the theme on Mixed Media Monday is: Come Fly With Me! I seem to be featuring a lot of birds in my art lately. Maybe I'm trying to conjure up some warmer weather in our area. The image I used is the Eastern Bluebird.

This week's theme on Sunday Postcard Art is - Life is Good! For my entry, I envisioned a young Victorian woman indulging in beauty treatments.
My postcard's background discusses the benefits of rose water while the transparency lists a variety of beauty indulgences. I chose this particular female image because it looks like she was caught in the act of applying her cosmetics. The female image came from The Graphics Fairy.
This week's challenge on Make a Moo or Two is - Yesterday. First, I chose a vintage girl image. Then, I used scraps of sheet music, from 1914, to invoke the Yesterday theme. Last, I added a few more paper bits and bobs to complete my Moo.

Here in the Carolinas', our weather is warm and sunny one day. And then the next day brings bone-chilling winds. I'm actually longing for hot and humid Summer days. My ATC reflects my quest for Spring weather.

I'm always seeking out sources to improve my drawing skills and/or learn more about promoting my art online. Today, I happened to come across the Empty Easel site. And I was very impressed.
The site is an "online art magazine with practical advice, tips and tutorials for creating and selling art." Their "goal is to publish helpful information for both new and professional artists - without any of the vague or confusing 'artspeak' common to the art world."
You can also sign up for a free, weekly e-newsletter. Check them out - I believe that you will like what you see.
I simply adore Cassie Griffin's Bella Dia blog. She generously offers free, high-quality tutorials and patterns; gift tags and other useful information. She also produces The Crafty Crow blog (a children's craft collective) that features delightful projects for children.
A little while back, Cassie told readers about the Vintage Holiday Crafts site where you can find a wealth of free Vintage clip art. Be sure to read their Terms of Use.

This week's theme for Sunday Postcard Art is Africa. I couldn't come up with any ideas. I just kept envisioning these giraffes running across the plains. I finally decided to draw some whimsical giraffes.
I used pen, watercolor paints and colored pencils. Check out the other wonderful entries.

When I create an Art Journal page, I begin by looking through old magazines and catalogs for ideas. I'm always amazed at the synchronicity that comes into play during this process. Even though I don't specifically look for certain pictures, words or phrases, the images that I need seem to jump out at me from the page. Usually, when I've completed my Journal page, there always seems to be the appropriate message for that particular time in my life.
Yesterday, when I created the page (below), I had been thinking of the next steps to take with my Art. These thoughts had occupied my mind for the past few weeks. Although, I didn't start out to find the answer, my finished page seemed to be telling me: "Continue to create daily." The fairy tale shoes that I drew reminded me of magic - and I believe that's what Art is all about: Magic.
This week, Heather chose the wonderful theme of Once Upon a Time for the Sunday Postcard Art challenge.
The first idea that I thought of were the words, Fairy Tales Can Come True from that classic Frank Sinatra song, Young at Heart. I could not get the words out of my mind so that's how my postcard came to be.
