For many years, I have been collecting quotes in both my written and Art Journals. I especially like motivational quotes. Here is a recent page that I did in my Art Journal. I have this quote posted over my desk.

In case you haven't heard, Our Sweet Marie Zine is now available for download. Cassandra, host of My Artful Adventures, has put together a publication that includes 71 pages of lovely Marie art and ideas.
I'm proud to be a member of the Marie Antoinette Mail Art Group. The artists, in this group, are super talented and their art is awesome. You can see their beautiful art in this zine.
I don't know how Cassandra finds the time but she is also planning an Art Retreat. Of course, it will be Marie-inspired. The Marie's Danse des Fleurs Art Event and Ball will take place February 25th - 27th, 2011 in sunny Florida. Remember to save the date and visit her site for more information.

Over at Sunday Postcard Art, the theme is GRUNGY GOTHIC. I found my grunge by looking through a variety of fashion magazines and catalogs. I then began cutting and pasting. I darkened the model's hair and make-up and put her in a proper goth dress.
Somehow, it all eerily came together. Check out the other artist's entries.

For Crusade No. 34, Michelle Ward beckons us to Come Over to the Dark Side. Michelle has created some gorgeous dark art by working with stencils. Check it out.
I had intended to work with stencils. But when I began rummaging through my overstuffed, ephemera folder, I pulled out a black door, jester, photograph and the phrase, "She Does Art." I had printed up a bunch of these phrases a few years ago.
Instead of using stencils, my muse stubbornly created this journal page for the Crusade. And she added the pink socks and ribbons too. Now go look at what the other artists created.

On Sunday, we met my brother and sister-in-law in Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia.It was warm and sunny - A perfect day to visit this historic area. Every where I looked, I kept thinking of Marie Antoinette even though this was the United States and not France.
I fell in love with this mirror, very Marie-like to me. (How did my brother get in the picture? My husband was taking the photographs. I don't know who the other guy is.)
This bed reminded me of Marie too. The striped wallpaper was gorgeous.
Lovely grounds and a beautiful gate too.
During the last two years, I gave myself a challenge to draw every day. This is when I began developing a variety of girl characters. Daily, I would sketch, erase, revise - tossing out the discards. I'd add ink and watercolor paint to the sketches of the girls that pleased me.
Finally, I came up with a cast of characters that I have dubbed the Cinnamon Pink Girls. I think of them as "sweet but a little saucy too." Webster's dictionary describes saucy as "impertinently bold and impudent; amusingly forward and flippant." Yes, that's the Cinnamon Pink Girls. I will continue to refine, reinvent - and create additional characters to add to the group. I hope you like them.
It's scary to open up an online shop. In the past, I've sold my mixed-media art, and related products, at Craft Shows. But selling online puts your products, out there, in front of the whole world. If you're an Etsy Shop owner, leave me a comment and your site's url.
