Today I chose a pulp berry basket (original color green) and peat pot to embellish for holiday containers.
- Since both of these containers are porous, I applied two coats of gesso to seal them. Let dry.
- I then painted them with Americana® Decor™ Chalky Finish paint. The paint color is Serene. I applied two coats of the paint, letting the containers dry each time.
- Last, I added a coat of Americana® Decor™ Soft Touch Varnish to seal them.
I plan to use the painted berry baskets for Holiday cookie gifts. I'll use the peat pots to hold candy.
Note: I have been experimenting with the Chalky paints on wood. I'm really impressed with the product, color range and its' ease of use. You do not need to prime or sand the wood beforehand so you can get right to work on painting your flea market finds.
