Art and Serendipity

When I'm creating a collage, many times certain images will attract my interest as I look through my stash of ephemera , old magazines or catalogs. And it always amazes me how the various images eventually work together to convey a message.

Today, I came across this beach scene in my scrap pile. Later, thumbing through a travel catalog, I found the words, Wish You Were Here. After a few snips of the scissors and some glue, I came up with this Artist Trading Card (ATC).

Bits and Pieces ATC

I again used some bits and pieces of decorative papers, from my stash, to make this background for my Artist Trading Card (ATC). It's kind of relaxing to cut, arrange and paste these small paper scraps.

Creating an ATC from Mixed-Media Scraps

When I work on my large collage pieces, I like to save the small decorative paper scraps, strips of sheet music and other ephemera in small envelopes. Today, I took out a few of those scraps to make this Artist Trading Card (ATC). The female image comes from ARTchix Studio. Helga has some beautiful and tempting art supplies.

Sew Marie ATC - September Challenge

I'm a member of the Marie Antoinette Mail Art Group. Our  September challenge is Sew Marie. We were asked to create an ATC that was primarily fabric, Marie-inspired, and sewn (either by hand or machine).

Here is my entry. The bodice of Marie's dress has more than 25 individually-applied sequins. (What was I thinking?) I found it challenging to create clear photographs. This was due to Marie's sheer ribbon shawl, and bodice sequins, on the front of the ATC. And the pale pink tulle on the back of the ATC.

A New Chunky ATC

I made this chunky ATC today. The background paper is from Images by Kim. I love the vintage look of the paper. The young girl is from Paper Whimsy.

Looking for Spring!

Here in the Carolinas', our weather is warm and sunny one day. And then the next day brings bone-chilling winds. I'm actually longing for hot and humid Summer days. My ATC reflects my quest for Spring weather.
