When I work in my Art Journal, I often like to use large words to help convey my message. Instead of cutting words from a magazine or purchasing large alphabet stamps, I decided to make my own custom stamp using Self-Adhesive Foam Sheets.
Since I love all things French, I decided to make a Paris word stamp. I used an old pdf file of stencil alphabets but you can also find this font style online.
- I sized the alphabet to 3 1/2" for capital letters and 2" for small letters. From these letters, I created the word Paris - and then flipped the text before I printed it out.
- I made two copies of the reversed text. I used one copy to trace my letters on the adhesive foam sheet. I used the other copy as a guide to make sure I had the letters placed in the proper position for the stamp.
- After cutting the letters, I adhered them to a piece of foam board. Voila - I now have a Paris stamp. Tips: Use an X-Acto knife to cut the foam board to the proper size. To protect the foam board, you could cover it with a coat of matte medium before placing the letters on it.
