Last night at our TAG Art Journaling Group, Stephanee demonstrated how to make paper bag art journals. She used lunch-size bags. You can create a variety of journals just by folding the bags in different positions.
To make the holes for the brads, we used awls. We put the bags in the center of a large phone book which made it easier to punch the holes. Some of the other member bound their books with waxed linen or twine.
The open parts of the bags make great pockets for secret or surprise art pieces. You can also cut more openings in the bag pages - or create decorative edging with scissors. Embellish the bag pages with washi tape, ink spray, paint, small accent pieces and/or images.
Another member Maureen brought these sewn fabric swatches to share. I really love them. They would make great book covers - or even provide a background for a painted piece. I'm still thinking up ideas for them.
Since I was in Virginia Beach, I had to hit the stores, Both Anthropologie and Hobby Lobby just opened up in the city. Of course, the Anthropologie store was just beautiful as usual. I was also impressed with the art supply section at Hobby Lobby. So many created needs to choose from.
