GreenCraft Magazine Has Re-launched: Includes Colorful & Innovative Projects

GreenCraft magazine has been re-introduced to the world of publishing by Stampington & Company. That fact has made many fans happy, including me.

The new issue is overflowing with colorful and attention-grabbing projects. Many of the ideas would make wonderful holiday gifts; just in time for the craft-making season.

I’m thrilled that GreenCraft included two of my designs in the magazine. The heart-shaped tokens can be worked up quickly and would make adorable decorations to put on top of Christmas presents.

My painted coffee bags project solves the problem of gift wrapping: a gift that is so pretty that it doesn’t have to be wrapped. Just fill the bag with a variety of small nominal presents. And part of your holiday shopping list is done.

In Her Studio Magazine FEB/MAR/APR 2019

We’ve been experiencing some cold, rainy days this past week. So I’m glad today is Friday and we can enjoy a leisurely weekend. I plan to take a few hours for some sacred, restorative time. Luckily, my newest issue of In Her Studio magazine landed in my mail box today.

In this issue, Amber Demien, Senior Managing Editor, offers a wonderful selection of artists and their studios. Amber introduces two artists (in the editor’s letter) who see limitations as another opportunity to flex their creativity.

That’s one of the reasons why I enjoy this magazine: You get personal encouragement and tips from artists just like yourself. (Read more about these two artists in the new issue).

But there’s so much more: The eye candy photos of the studios give me ideas for my own studio. There are enjoyable columns such as: Creative Confessions; Just Between Artists; A Studio DIY and more.

I’m happy to report that my decoupaged art supply tray is featured in the Studio DIY section.

I’ve been purchasing In Her Studio since the premiere issue first came out. I like to leaf through the previous issues when I hit a dry spell and need a jolt of inspiration. The magazine is definitely a keeper.

We were very blessed to come through Hurricane Florence with only heavy rain and winds. Still, my thoughts and prayers are with the people in the other areas of North and South Carolina who are caught in this monster of a storm.

It was a nice reprieve to receive the Oct/Nov/Dec issue of Art Journaling magazine in the mail. The issue contains more than 175+ colorful journal pages to refresh your spirit and energize your creative juices.

New editor, Evelyn Mateos, and her staff have gathered together many tips and ideas to help you add color to those blank pages in your journal. 

My article, Looking Through the Pages, tells how I experimented with deli paper to create a different type of art journal. Instead of working with watercolor paper or fabric, why not create an art journal with deli paper?

Somerset Home Magazine - Autumn 2017 Issue

During this past week, the weather has been HOT in the Carolinas. Even my two Shih Tzu are more interested in the air conditioned oasis of our home than their daily walks. Today the temperature is 94 but the weather forecast indicates it feels like 106.

Today I received my Autumn 2017 issue of Somerset Home. What a wonderful excuse to seek refuge in the house and be inspired by the beautiful home decor projects contained in the magazine. Editor Devon Warren has put on quite an editorial display by offering easy yet DIY functional accents for your home.

You may want to try one - or two - of my projects that are published in this issue. I love to pretty up my worktable with lovely accents. That's how I came up with the votive candle holders that are pictured above.

To gather the small odds and ends on my desk, I then created these little trinket dishes.

Take some time to create some new decorative items, from Somerset Home, for your home this summer - and escape the heat at least for a few hours.

Artsy Business Card Holder in The Stampers' Sampler Magazine: Spring 2017 Issue

My Artsy Business Card Holder appears in the April/May/June 2017 issue of The Stampers' Sampler magazine. If you want to create a business card holder that fits your creative style, you may want to take a look at this project. I also made a simple cloth case to protect the card holder.

Editor Gracy Wilkins has put together an issue with so many inspiring techniques and ideas that you may want to take notes while you peruse the pages. After reading the magazine, you're sure to come away with some new tips and tricks to enhance your own card making skills.

Positivity Plaques Published in Just Mixed Media! Magazine

My Positivity Plaques have been published in Just Mixed Media! (Volume 2, 2017) magazine. I'm a big believer in positive thinking and I like to incorporate uplifting words and phrases into my art work.

The plaques were made with large paint sticks which I painted with chalk paint. I transferred the words with freezer paper.

GreenCraft Magazine: Repurposed Film Slide Art

We just arrived back from our vacation in Orlando, Florida. The weather was beautiful and the outlet shopping was even better. I came home to the Winter 2017 issue of GreenCraft magazine in my mail box.

My Repurposed Film Slide Art appears in this issue. If you have film slides on hand, add a few embellishments and tuck them into Christmas stockings. The slides make for cute ornaments, magnets, key chains and/or pendants.

If you don't have slides, check out flea markets, thrift stores or online stores catering to mixed media artists. They are such fun to embellish.

When you create art, do you find yourself drawn to a particular shape? Then you may be interested in my article on, Paint Chip Art & Circle Symbols in the Summer 2015 issue of Somerset Studio Gallery magazine.

In the article, I talk about a person's preferences for certain shapes and the symbolic meaning behind them. If you want to further explore this topic, check out the classic book, Signs of Life: The Five Universal Shapes & How to Use Them. The book is written by Angeles Arrien.

I am beyond excited to share my good news! My teeny tiny bird cage is on the cover of the Somerset Life Autumn 2013 magazine.

The Autumn issue offers a wealth of creative and inspiring projects. Whenever I read the newest issue of Somerset Life, I feel as if I'm being offered page after page of treasures.

In fact on the days when I need to stir up my imagination, I like to pull out my earlier issues and browse through them. I always come up with new ideas for future mixed-media art projects. How about you?

The inaugural issue of Art Journaling by Somerset Studio has just been released. I'm thrilled to announce that my Art Journal page is on page 125.

Jenny Doh (Editor-in-Chief & Director of Publishing) and her staff really outdid themselves. The magazine is both inspiring and enchanting! I can see myself using it as a reference to refer to, again and again, to further stimulate my creative ideas.

1000 Artist Journal Pages - My Book Arrived!

I received my copy of the book, 1000 Artist Journal Pages by Dawn DeVries Sokol. I'm thrilled to say that one of my journal pages appears in the book.

Dawn has done an excellent job on the book. There's a lot of inspirational eye candy. I especially like the  gorgeous cover of the book.
